SIHFW towards a Center of Excellence in Communication

Bhubaneswar: State Institute of Health and Family Welfare (SIHFW), Odisha, the nodal Institution for execution of behavior change communication and training activities on health and has been selected as the central institution that can assist various departments of Government of Odisha, as it already has an exclusive cadre of communication personnel.

The Centre of Excellence as a ‘state of art’ centre for communication was inaugurated within the State Institute of Health and Family Welfare by the Honorable Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Sj Prasanna Acharya, on Saturday.

The Center of Excellence (CoE) mandated by Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Odisha, will bring communication experts from different directorates of health, Women and Child Development and Rural Development and development partners such as UNICEF and DFID together under a single umbrella to conceive, plan, implement and monotor communication activities to meet common programmatic goals.

The Institution will be developed in collaboration with the departments of Health & Family Welfare, Women & Child Development, Rural Development, OPEPA and OSACS.

Amongst others Ms Anu Garg, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Department of Health and Family Welfare, Ms Supriya Pattanayak, State Representative, DFID, Dr. Bijayeeni Mohapatra, Director, SIHFW, and Dr. Pramod Meherda, MD, NRHM and Chairman, CoE were present.
