Bhubaneswar: Three prominent artistes of the State namely eminent singer-musician Prafulla Kar, Gotipua dancer Bhagirathi Mohapatra and well-known artist and art-director Asim Basu were conferred the annual Parampara Awards for 2012 at Rabindra Mandap on Friday.
The Chief Guest of the evening Guru Aruna Mohanty, Vice-president of Orissa Sangeet Natak Academy (OSNA), gave away the awards.
The awards have been instituted by the city-based Parampara cultural organisation founded by popular actor Prasanna Mishra. As the name suggests, the institution and festival strives to conserve and promote the cultural tradition of Orissa. The organisation has been honoring three artistes every year for their significant contribution to the fields of music, theatre and dance.
The centre of attraction of the evening was the performance by the awardees. Apart from this Odia play “Kansa Kie” directed by Prasanna Mishra was also staged during the evening.
Among others, veteran actor Bijay Mohanty, President of Parampara, Prasanna Mishra, Chairman of Parampara and Gouraprasad Patnaik were present.
