Bhubaneswar: As said by Sambalpur Superintendent of Police Nikhil Kanodia, during a raid on a camp at Jadu Loisingh forest in Sambalpur district on Wednesday, Maoist leaders Girish Mahato of Jharkhand, Kunu Dehuri of Orissa along with some others escaped from the camp after an encounter with security forces.
The encounter broke out when the security forces began a combing operation in the area after a group of about 15 armed Maoists set fire to vehicles and equipment of ARSS Infrastructure Private Limited (ARSSIPL), a private construction company at Munder village.
As said by Mr. Kanodia, the Maoists fired 150 rounds; in turn security forces fired 300 rounds and 16 grenades. There are no reports of any human casualty.
The security forces comprising of the Special Operations Group, CRPF and District Voluntary Force, recovered a gun, three cartridges and five grenades from the camp.
Sources said that the gun they seized was the same one which the Maoists had looted from the security guard of ARSS Infrastructure Private Limited (ARSSIPL), at Munder under Jujumura police station in Sambalpur district, nearly 300 km from here.
