Belpada, Balasore: The Orissa police on Saturday arrested a 35-year-old married man for killing a woman and her two daughters on Thursday night. The accused Jogeshwar Meher, a tailor master by profession, was arrested from his Malimunda house under Belpada block in Bolangir district, Superintendent of Police Avinash Kumar said.
According to police, Pranati caught Jogeshwar and Pratibha red-handed when they were busy in love-making. She woke up her mother who shouted at Jogeshwar. She also threatened to lodge a molestation case. Enraged, Jogeshwar attacked Suru with a sharp weapon and hacked her to death. When Pranati tried to come to the rescue of her mother, the accused also attacked with the same weapon. The profusely bleeding Pranati also died on the spot.
According to police, Jogeshwar used to teach tailoring to two daughters of Suru Meher of Belpada village for the last couple of years. In course of time, he developed relationship with Suru’s elder daughter Pratibha. However, this was not liked by her younger sister Pranati. Apprehending that Pratibha might disclose the crime to police, Jogeshwar also hacked her to death and fled from the spot.
As said by the police, the accused is married for last 10 years and is having a child.
