Bhubaneswar: Janani Sisu Surakshya Karyakram (JSSK) was launched by Health and Family Welfare Minister Sri Prasanna Acharya today.
This scheme would provide completely free and cashless services to pregnant womens including normal deliveries and caesarean operations and treatment for sick new borns for a period of 30 days, in Government Health Institutions in rural areas.
The new JSSK initiative will be implemented throughout the State, in all the designated health institutions upto block CHC. However, the Medical Colleges will not be included at this stage.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Sri Acharya reiterated the commitment of the Government of Odisha in improving the health and nutrition among women and children.
The launch was graced by Honorable Minister for Women and Child Development Smt. Anjali Behera, Chief Secretary of Orissa, Sri. Bijay Patnaik, Commissioner cum Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Ms. Anu Garg, Mission Director, NRHM, Dr. Pramod Kumar Meherda, Director, Family Welfare, Director Health Services, Director, State Institute of Health and Family Welfare along with other officials of both the departments.
