Bhubaneswar, Nov. 4: Two of the former Odisha ministers, whose names figured in a precious land plot and house accommodation expose, denied of having misused their power. The ex-ministers, Kanak Bardhan Singhdeo and Samir Dey, are all belonging to the BJP.

“The plots and houses were accommodated as per the existing law and provisions,” said Mr. Singhdeo. Besides Mr. Singhdeo and Mr. Dey, a senior BJD leader and the present state higher education minister’s name has also cropped in the land and house accommodation irregularities. The alleged land accommodation irregularity took place in the span of a decade from 2000 to 2010. The lands were given away at nominal prices, about a tenth of the market rates then.

“We have never misused our discretionary power,” they have claimed while clarifying that they had not misused their discretionary power to allot land plots and houses to judges, IAS and IPS officers as shown in the national television channel CNN-IBN.
