Bhubaneswar: On the occasion of celebrating Children’s Day programme, the State-level annual festival for school-goers, ‘SURAVI-2011’, by School & Mass Education Dept, Govt. of Orissa, noted film director Gadadhar Puty is entrusted with a filmmaking workshop for school children. 30 children are joining this creative programme from all 30 districts of the State i.e. one from each district.

The 7-day film-making workshop is taking off on November 8. The participants are chosen especially from Odia medium schools and they are up to class IX.

“It will be a unique experience for the kids as they can learn the nitty-gritty of film-making from experts. The education shall be fully practical and the children shall enjoy the art and crafts of filmmaking”, says Mr. Putty, Coordinator of the workshop. Finally, the children shall produce a documentary film on SURAVI-2011.

Eminent filmmakers of Odisha, Jugal Debata, Chakradhar Sahu, Himansu Khatua, Subas Das, Susant Mani and Dilip Panda of Biju Patnaik Film and Television Institute of Odisha, are lined up as the resource persons for the workshop.

Gadadhar Puty is a reputed filmmaker from Odisha and he has got national award for his children’s film ‘POOJA PAEEN PHULATIE’. “I will also enjoy teaching children on how to make film”, expressed Mr. Puty.
