Bhunaneswar: The prestigious ‘TIME’ magazine of US, which is considered to be the most influencing news magazine in the world has recognized the city based Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), the largest institute for the tribal children in the world founded by Dr. Achyuta Samanta.
In a story of faith, hope and austerity at a school for India’s indigenous population, the magazine published an article titled “Children of a Lesser God” in its November 7, 2011 issue. The correspondent has pointed out the mission of Dr. Samanta for educating 2 lakh tribal children by the end of this decade.
Till date as only five Indians has been referred to as the “most influential” in the Time magazine, it is indeed a great achievement for any school in India to be featured in TIME. It is a rare honour for Dr. Samanta as an Odia to find place in Time magazine and it is indeed a pride for Odisha that KISS could attract the world’s attention because of its good works and care for 15 thousand tribal children studying there from KG to PG absolutely free.
Time with a circulation of nearly 34 lakh copies per week, with a readership of 45 million people around the world is published with European, Asian and South Pacific edition. It is a pride for the State of Odisha that Time in all its editions has brought out the incredible story of Dr.. Samanta and his mission KISS.
