Bhubaneswar: The 150th Anniversary of the Institution of Comptroller and Audit General of India (CAG) was held at Jayadev Bhawan, Bhubaneswar on Wednesday. Here while addressing the gathering, Odisha Chief Minister, Mr. Naveen Patnaik said that the benefits of development can reach common man only with the end of corruption.
Mr. Patnaik said, the State Government has been continuously trying and is committed to eradicate corruption. Citizens now demand better governance from the Government. So it is our responsibility to fulfill their demand.
Moreover a zero-tolerance policy will be followed by the State Government in case of corrupt officials. Giving a strong warning to corrupt public servants, Mr. Patnaik said, the State Government has decided to use the confiscated properties of corrupt officials for public purpose. This process has already started in the State.
The CAG has now made the audit process very systematic and the State Government is committed to the process of transparency and will always try to ensure that there is no undue delay in submitting records to audit with in the prescribed time period, Mr.Patnaik said.
The CAG, by promoting accountability, transparency and good governance through high quality auditing and accounting and providing independent assurance that public funds are being used efficiently and for the intended purpose, has rightly justified the duty assigned to it for which Mr. Patnaik thanked them.
