Bhubaneswar: Oxfam India in collaboration with Right to Food Campaign and Civil Society Organisations of Odisha organized a State Level Public Hearing on Hunger, Malnutrition and Food (In) Security at Panthanivas, Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.

During the public hearing, the jury members namely Justice Chaudhury Pratap K Mishra, Retired Judge of the Odisha High Court, Mr. Ravi Das, Senior journalist, Jyothi Panigrahi, Chairperson, State Commission for Women, Prof. Basudev Sahu, Economist and former Chief Secretary Sahadev Sahu received more than 10 testimonies on varied issues like PDS, MDM, ICDS and others relating to food security.

The testimonies were collected from 17 districts across food security issues.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Shaik Anwar, Oxfam India, South India Regional Manager said, “Oxfam India is organising and supporting a series of activities aimed at influencing the policy makers, general public, media, civil society and others.  He also added that Public Hearings are aimed at achieving the objective to raise the discourse around food (in)security issues keeping the lens on three key schemes- PDS, ICDS (Integrated Child Development Scheme) and MDM (Mid- Day Meal Scheme)”.
