Bhubaneswar: The tragic fire cracker blast in a pick-up van at Kujang in Jagatsinghpur district last Wednesday, turned out into a war of words between party legislators Bishnu Das, Debashis Samantaray and Damodar Rout who blamed each other for the explosion in which nine persons were injured seriously.
The incident took a political turn when a 10-year-old boy, Pituna Patra, injured seriously in the explosion died due to burn injuries and Damodar Rout blamed Debasish Samantray and Bishnu Das for the same.
Following this allegation, Debashis Samantray and Bishnu Das blamed Damodar Rout for the whole incident and addressing media persons advised him not to indulge in cheap politics as it was purely an accident and there should be no politics over injured persons.
Rout on the other had said that he has nothing to do with this incident.
Adding more he said, “I demand the Government to order a judicial probe into the matter.”
It is noteworthy to mention that the incident occurred when a cracker-laden van caught fire on its way to a function organized by the Biju Workers’ Union, a trade union, at Paradip. Barabati-Cuttack MLA Debasish Samantray and Jagatsinghpur MLA Bishnu Das were among the prominent organizers of the event.
