Bhubaneswar: One person was killed and nine others were injured early Wednesday, when the Koraput-Howrah Samleshwari Express collided with a goods train at Jharsuguda station of Odisha.
The accident occurred at around 2 am on Wednesday morning.
Latest reports say, one person has died in this mishap after being critically injured. Nine other seriously injured passengers were admitted in the local hospital.
Reports suggested that the incident occurred due to “signal overshooting”. Both the trains started moving in the same direction although signal was given to the goods train to move, leading to the collision.
As reported, nine bogies of the Koraput-Howrah Samaleshwari Express were partially damaged and the train left for its destination after a halt of about six hours.
It is note worthy to mention that this is the second train accident in 24 hours. The Howrah-Dehradun Express caught fire on Tuesday, where in seven passengers including a foreign tourist were charred to death and 30 others were injured after a fire broke out in an AC coach of Howrah-Dehradun Express in Giridih district of Jharkhand.
