Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s Karate Champion Valena Valentina has again made the State proud by winning two more gold medals on Tuesday in the South Asian Senior Karate Championship organised by South Asian Karate Do Federation and hosted by All India Karate Do Federation held at Talkotara Indoor Stadium, New Delhi.

In the open kata event, Valena Valintina with her magical performance defeated her Sri Lankan competitor by 7-2 and emerged as the champion. In Karateka fighting event she defeated her Bangladeshi competitor by 9-1 points and bagged the champion trophy.

Altogether 120 karatekas from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, Afghanistan India had participated in the Championship. There were 20 participants from India. Valena was the only participant from Odisha in the National team.

Chief Minister Mr. Naveen Patnaik congratulated Valena Valentina for her success in the International event.

Mr. Patnaik said, “By succeeding in the International event, Valena has shown her talent and strong will power and has brought glory to the State and the Nation.

The Chief Minister hoped that Valena’s achievement would inspire young sportspersons, particularly women players of our State.
