Bhubaneswar: Ruling BJD MLA, Mr. Prabhat Tripathy from Banki, along with four other persons were seriously injured on Thursday when his Mahindra Bolero dashed against a tree.

This incident happened, while the BJD legislator was on a visit to Nabarangpur district to join the party’s campaign for the November 30 bypoll at Umerkote Assembly Constituency, when his vehicle hit a roadside tree while trying to save a cyclist at Beheda bridge at Raighar in Odisha’s Nowrangpur district, police said.

All the injured were admitted to a hospital at Umerkote where the condition of two persons was stated to be serious, hospital officials said.

Tripathy’s condition is stable, Nowrangpur District, BJD President, Jayadev Parida, who visited the hospital, said.
