Cuttack: In a delightful development for over 2.5 lakhs police personnel and their family members in the State, Odisha Police, today unveiled a special facility for its personnel, ‘Odisha Police Canteen’ at Cuttack on the occasion of its Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
The canteen was inaugurated and dedicated to the force by Shri Manmohan Praharaj, IPS, Director General of Police, Odisha, who was the Chief Guest at the occasion. It is the most unique contribution by the police body of Odisha to its police personnel and their family members aptly tagged as ‘Fayada Ka Sauda’. With this unique facility, now the police personnel of Odisha Police can avail the benefits of purchasing goods and FMCG items at comparatively discounted rates, similar to their counterparts in armed forces.
Besides this, ‘The Odisha Police Canteen’ has also introduced a loyalty card called, ‘Fayeda Kard’. This card gives added advantage to the card holders giving special discounts along with the actual discount on every purchase.
The sprawling Odisha Police Canteen spreads over 4000 sq. ft. area in the Odisha Police State Headquarters premises in Cuttack, boasts of all kinds of groceries, including major FMCG brands, stationeries and also some choice of garments. To circulate updated information on the products offered by the Odisha Police Canteen, it intends to publish a quarterly newsletter. This quarterly newsletter will be the main piece of communication showcasing the essence of the canteen, the products and special schemes and benefits of the forthcoming season.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Manmohan Praharaj, DGP, Odisha congratulated the brave police force on the platinum jubilee years of Odisha Police and said, “It is indeed a moment of great delight to introduce this novel feature for the policemen of our state. While dedicating this unique canteen facility for over 2.5 lakh police personnel of the Odisha Police.
Adding more Mr.Praharaj said, “Now we have own Odisha Police Canteen to enjoy genuine products at discounted prices just like the military or CSD canteens, across the country. Perhaps, it is the best possible way to reach out and care for 2.5 lakhs police personnel across the State and their family members. While the police force is striving to achieve excellence in ensuring safety and security of the people, this small feature will certainly add to the delight of their family members and dear ones.”
Shri Joydeep Nayak, IGP (Provisioning), Odisha and President, Odisha Police Canteen, the President of Odisha Police Ladies Club Mrs. Sagraika Praharaj along with other senior members were present to add glamour to the special occasion.
