Udayabhanu Moharana, an Indian staying in Singapore, has raised a question on the way the film actor Anupam Kher is using Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Sastri’s name in an advertisement. He has written a letter to Indian High Commission at Singapore and questioned the act of Mr. Kher.

Mr. Kher has been staging a play called Kuchh Bhi Ho Sakta Hai for a few months now, and he is shceduled to stage this play in Singapore on 3rd of December 2011. He has advertised about his upcoming play in Sony entertainment television in Singapore.

The following is Mr. Moharana’s open letter to Mr. Kher.

Mr. Kher,

What has happened to your intellect and confidence on your own acting so that you have to use name of Gandihiji and Lal Bahadur Shastriji to promote your play “Kuchh bhi ho sakta hai”. Since when they have become objects of commercial advertisement. It looks like you just remember their name but forgotten who they are.

How can you be so disrespectful and irresponsible to use name of such personalities for your monetary gain. Do you understand that the Earth will never see a personality, and a leader again who can inspire people in thousands just to get beaten up and give up their lives without even raising their hands and you have used his name to promote your play. Are they comparable in any sense. You must be really desperate and frustrated.

How can your play be worth seeing when you do not know how to respect “ The Father of our Nation.”

I do not know whether you will ever get the point of view regret your act. I felt responsible and I am addressing this.

I will never ever watch any of your programs again in my life.

Regards,

U. Moharana
