Bhubaneswar: India started its journey of victory by a thrilling 1 wicket victory over West Indies in the exciting match on Tuesday at Cuttack, there by leading the series by 1-0.

After restricting the West Indies to 211 for nine, India were tottering at 59 for five, when Rohit Sharma’s 72 came to the rescue of the team there by leading the team to pass the target with seven balls to spare.

India got off to an absolute flier, with Virender Sehwag and Parthiv Patel slamming 37 in the first four overs. Roach, however, brought West Indies back into it with a double-strike in the next over. Again botjh Parthiv and Gautam Gambhir’s got out in the same over which sent India to the backfoot. Roach broke through once more and dismissed Kohli. Andre Russell dismissed captain Virender Sehwag and Suresh Raina in successive overs. India lost their seventh wicket when Ravichandran Ashwin was run out.

There was excitement till the very end of the match . After two wicket-maiden overs following Rohit’s dismissal, the West Indies had a real chance to win the game with India needing 11 runs to win the match.

It was Yadav who hit the winning boundary in the 49th over thereby leading the Indian team to victory.
