Bhubaneswar: Armed Maoists set ablaze a mobile tower in Malkangiri district on Tuesday.

The rebels who are active in more than half of the state have been celebrating People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) week from Dec 2. During the celebration they blocked a few roads by felling trees.

Over 40-50 rebels torched the generator and other equipment of the cell phone tower at Kyang village in Malkangiri district. The mobile tower was on the only one catering to the need of the entire area. The ultras had destroyed the same tower twice earlier.

Police said a poster was recovered from the spot which claimed that the tower was set afire in protest against the murder of Kishenji, in West Bengal recently.
