Bhubaneswar: Chhatisha Niyog , the body of sevayats of the Puri temple has intervened the repair work at the Jagmohan of the 12th century Jagannath temple carried out by the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) and has stopped the repair work.
The repair work of ASI was to begin on Monday. But the sevayats stopped the work of ASI for the day.
The Niyog was not satisfied with the incomplete work undertaken by the ASI while deplastering the temple complex and has placed a six point charter of demands, saying that they will not allow the work to resume till their demands are fulfilled.
The temple servitors have demanded an explanation from the ASI regarding the apathetic attitude of the ASI.
It is noteworthy to mention that one devotee was injured inside the temple on 1st November, when the carvel of a temple on the western side of the main temple weighing over one tonne suddenly fell down.
