Puri: The Archeological Survey of India(ASI) was asked to submit a clear status report on different construction work undertaken by it at the Jagannath temple on Wednesday.
On Monday, Chhatisha Niyog , the body of sevayats of the Puri temple forcefully protested on the deplastering work inside the audience hall or Jagamohan of the shrine and had asked for the report .
Earlier, the ASI had planned to carry out the deplastering work. Meanwhile, the impasse between the ASI and priests continued and the work stopped on Tuesday.
“The report will be submitted to the shrine administration soon,” said a senior ASI official Chitaranjan Das.
“As soon as they issue the identity cards to workers engaged in the repair work, we will allow the ASI official to carry out renovation work of the shrine,” said a priest Ramchandra Das Mohapatra.
