Bhubaneswar: Maoists, on the sixth day of their People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) week, seemed to completely dominate Odisha’s Malkangiri district on Wednesday.

The Maoist were seen organising meetings in various places ignoring the combing operation of police. Public transport continued to remain paralyzed. Bus services to Visakhapatnam, Vijayanagram and Raipur collapsed and people were seen walking 40-50 kms.

Moreover Government offices, banks and post offices in Maoist infested area were seen closed following a bandh call given by the extremists during the observance of the week . This has affected the day-to-day life of the people.

With, the PLGA week to finish on Thursday, a red alert has been sounded in southern Orissa districts.

Police officials and BSF jawans are carrying combing operations. However the State Government needs to take adequate steps to protect the poor tribal people.
