Bhubaneswar: Owing to continuos pressure from different spheres, Shri Bikram Keshari Arukh, State Law and Rural Development Minister has surrendered one of the two houses that he had availed under the discretionary quota, official sources said.

The Minister has surrended the house at Ananta Vihar Vihar in Pokhariput area.

While the BDA norms clearly stated that one family cannot avail more than one house in the Bhubaneswar Master Plan area, the Minister on the other hand had claimed earlier that he has not done anything illegal.

However it is noteworthy to mention that, Shri Arukh had taken two houses under the discretionary quota one from Urban Development Minister K V Singhdeo, which was allotted in the name of his wife, Jaylakshmi Arukh in 2007 at Kalinga Nagar, and another from the present Urban Development Minister Badri Narayan Patra in his own name in 2009 at Pokhariput.
