Indore: In the fourth one day international(ODI) played between India and West Indies, opener Virender Sehwag smashed a world record 219 from 149 balls here on Thursday.
He became only the second batsman after Sachin Tendulkar to get a double hundred and made to record the highest score(219) in ODIs as India scored their highest one-day total of 418 for five.
Sehwag surpassed Tendulkar’s 200 not out made from 147 balls against South Africa in Gwalior on February 24 last year at Holkar Stadium.
With 25 fours and seven sixes, Sehwag scored a huge total putting India to 418 runs at the stadium here led by debutant leg-spinner Rahul Sharma’s impressive three-wicket haul made India to win the fourth ODI and comfortably to take an unbeatable 3-1 lead over the Caribbeans.
Sehwag was given Man of the Match trophy and special prizes for his efforts in this match.
