Bhubaneswar: Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC), after a field visit to the proposed Syndhole Project area, has submitted a report to the PCC Chief Niranjan Patnaik on Friday here.

The Committee members met the concerned people of the area and discussed with them. They also interacted with intellectuals, experts and a number of people from different sections of the society, especially in the areas likely to be submerged.

According to the PCC members, who visited the site, said the local people were against the proposed projects. People in general expressed their fear about consequences citing the example of the recent flood where large areas in the districts of Sambalpur, Subarnapur, Boudha and Bargarh were submerged. In such case, construction of three barrages on river Mahanadi would only multiply the sufferings of the people in similar situations in future.

The members have raised nine points of concern after visiting the project site including increase of the level of the dam. They have blamed the politics of BJD Government to appease industrialists instead of thinking about the large population facing displacement.
