Bhubaneswar: Former agriculture minister Damodar Rout on Tuesday exposed corruption relating to supply of substandard seeds to farmers rocked the Odisha Assembly during question hour on the presence of Opposition as well as the Treasury Bench members grilling Agriculture Minister Pradeep Maharathy for his inefficiency to take action against the supplier agency and the then Secretary for his role.

The issue on substandard seeds which started during question hour continued to prevail for the day that triggered noisy scenes in the House with Congress MLAs demanding a statement from the Government assuring that farmers, who had purchased the seeds, would be paid compensation.

Later, talking to mediapersons, the Leader of Opposition demanded an inquiry into the irregularity in the seed deal by a House committee to unearth the truth.
