Rayagada: In a anti-Maoist operations, the police on Monday night stumbled upon a huge cache of arms and explosives from a forest in Rayagada district.

During the operation, one hardcore Maoist and three sympathisers were arrested from the town and the arms and ammunition were recovered from a covered pit in the Sitagudi forest of Chandrapur block on Monday evening, said the police.

As per Sources, the siezed items included 15 landmines each weighing 5 kg, 5 hand grenades, 14 country- made guns, 17 detonators, wire bundles, 18 tiffin carriers, six pressure bomb keys, two remote keys, six gun barrels, 50 empty detonator cases besides live cartridges and one battery.

Talking to mediapersons, Rayagada SP Anoop Krishna said the arms and explosives were dumped two to three years back by Maoist leader Azad.
