Bhubaneswar: Odisha will start its maiden e-blood bank service, a web-enabled system for electronic monitoring of blood collection, testing, storage and final use or disposal, the first of this kind in the Country on Wednesday.

Under this service, Odisha will start bar-coding of blood bags to ensure blood collected first is used first in 100 per cent cases and will have link with 59 Government blood banks only before expanding it to all 81.

The service will be inaugurated by Shri Prasanna Acharya, Health Minister, Odisha.

As per sources, the service was scheduled to start on 1stDecember but was postponed due to some reason.
