Bhubaneswar: The 6th Toshali National Crafts Mela commenced at Janata Maidan, Bhubaneswar on Thursday.

The 13 day annual rural fair organised at the State capital serves as a platform for artists, painters, weavers, sculptors and craftsmen to exhibit their talents in front of a large audience. Craftsmen from all over India showcase their best collections here. People get an opportunity to interact with Nationally and Internationally acclaimed craftsmen and buy their collections.

This year the event will witness as many as 200 master-crafts-persons of National repute from as many as 22 States of India.

Besides the traditional handicrafts, people will witness traditional dance and music performance organized by the administration. Popular comedian Ehsaan Qureshi, Noted singer Anuradha Paudwal and Sudesh Bhonsle are scheduled to perform.

A total of 300 stalls will be set up in the event out of which 185 stalls will showcase Odisha handicrafts, 45 will showcase State’s handloom and as many as 20 stalls will serve authentic Odia food
which add to the attraction of the whole event.

The event is hosted by Odisha Tourism and is supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Development Commissioners of Handicrafts and Handlooms and the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre.

Toshali National Crafts Mela will run from 15th December to 27th December 2011.
