Bhubaneswar: Activists of Rashtriya Jal Biradhari, known for their concern for water issues, deposed before the Shah Commission at the State Guest House, near OMC and the Commissionerate of Police Bhubaneswar, Odisha, on Tuesday.
They demanded a CBI enquiry into the exploitation of water resources in the mining belts Odisha, especially Keonjhar.
They alleged that the habitat of wild animals have been destroyed due to massive deforestation. This has resulted in wild elephants coming out of forests, who enter human habitats for food and thus devastate human life and property.
Similarly, they alleged that due to mining activities near river Baitarani, the river is gradually dying along with several other rivers.
