Bhubaneswar: An Official release from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said that the State Government confiscated a farmhouse of a retired IAS officer and converted it into a horticulture nursery on Wednesday.

The release said the farmhouse having 2.868 acres of land belonged to a former IAS officer, Mr. Ramesh Chandra Behera at Rangeilunda block in Ganjam District.

When Behera was the Vice-Chairman of the Cuttack Development Authority (CDA), the vigilance had registered a case against him for possession of disproportionate assests. After the order of the court , his property was confiscated. The place will now function as a training centre for farmers of Ganjam and Gajapati districts.

According to the release, Behera is the second former IAS officer after Sanjib Kumar Ray, whose property was confiscated and used for public purpose.
