Bhubaneswar: The first edition of grand annual poetry recitation event named “Kabi Katha (The Poet and His Poetry)” was held in the PLT here.

Around 15 students participated in the literary event and read out some of their best creations in front of a hall-packed audience and drew huge applause.

HOD and Professor of Political Science, Dr. Niranjan Barik also read out one of his poems in English. He went on to read a poem “Kataka” from the book “Nila Saraswati” written by eminent poet and the first Vice-Chancellor of the University, Sri Devdas Chhotray also read two poems of Guru Prasad Mohanty and Soubhagya Kumar Mishra, the writer-in-residence of the University.

Assistant Professor of Political Science Dr. Netajee Abhinandan was also present on the occasion and encouraged the students to write more poems.

The recitations were recorded for transmission in the ‘Literati’ programme on Ravenshaw Radio 90.4 MHz, Odisha’s first and only campus community radio station.
