Bhubaneswar: With an aim to boost the city’s International air connectivity, State domestic carrier Indigo on Friday announced to start flights to overseas destinations.

Regional Manager, Indigo, Sanjib Bhattacharya said it will commence very soon connecting flights to South-East Asian countries followed by consistent direct flights to destinations like Bangkok after getting necessary approvals from the State Government.

“We are planning to commence connecting flights to the Middle Eastern countries with major destinations like Dubai and Muscat via Mumbai and New Delhi,” said Bhattacharya at the ‘Invest Bhubaneswar’ forum.

“The number of flights between Bhubaneswar and Delhi has been increased from two to three from Friday while a direct flight between Bhubaneswar and Bangalore, Bhubaneswar and Chennai via Vizag, a morning flight to Kolkata and a third flight to Hyderabad would also be introduced soon”, he added.

Besides, Fly Dubai expressed its intention to operate flights from Bhubaneswar to Dubai. “We are keen to have Bhubaneswar as the fourth destination in India,” said Pran Desan, country head of Fly Dubai.

It is noteworthy to mention that currently Fly Dubai has connectivity to Dubai from Hyberabad, Lucknow and Ahmedabad.

As said by Purna Mohanty, Convenor of the event, several International investors from USA, Japan, Taiwan, Australia, Sweden, and many top investors had participated in ‘Invest Bhubaneswar’ Forum.
