Bhubaneswar: As many as 90 Language Based (LB) teachers with a monthly salary of Rs 3050, have been appointed and ten more will be appointed soon by the State Government on contract basis, in eight-tribal dominated districts to teach regional tribal language, official sources said.

Since last two years, the State Government has been imparting training to 200 teachers by the Tribal Regional and Culture Academy in eight-tribal dominated districts, so that they can teach regional tribal languages.

In this context, 25 teachers have been trained to teach Kui language in Kandhamal, 27 teachers have been trained to teach Koya language in Malkangiri, 23 teachers each have been trained in Desia and Saura language to teach in Koraput and Gajapati respectively.

Simailarly, 27 teachers have been trained in Ho language, 24 teachers have been trained in Mundari language to teach in Koraput and Sundergarh districts respectively.

The State Government has sanctioned Rs 4.95 crores in 2010-11 for the construction of 10 hostels with the capacity of 100 students each for SC students from the Revised Long Term Action Plan (RLTAP).

The State Government has sanctioned fund for as many as 1,393 boys hostel and 65 girls hostels during 2010-11. Moreover steps have been initiated by the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribe Development Department to ensure safety in the girls hostels, official sources said.
