Bhubaneswar: The intense cold wave sweeping across the State has claimed two lives in Boudh district, official reports said.

The dip in the mercury caused by severe cold wave has adversely affected daily life in different parts of State for the past few days.

While the minimum temperature in the State capital hovered around 13.5 degrees Celsius on Monday, the lowest for the city this season, in many parts of districts like Boudh and Kandhamal the mercury dipped to a low of near about zero degrees, at night.

The mercury read 5.8 degree celsius in Kandhamal and moderate fog was witnessed in Angul, Koraput, Malkangiri and Kandhamal districts.

Moreover while the Western and Northern districts like Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Sundergarh, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar have been recording sub-10 degree Celsius, coastal pocket Balasore recorded 9.6 degree Celsius.

However, the confirmation about the deaths is yet to be made by the district administration.
