Bhubaneswar: The State Government has directed the officials to dispose off all cases relating to pension by March 2012, State Finance Minister Prafulla Chandra Ghadai told the State Assembly on Monday.

Replying to a question of Mr Bibhuti Bhushan Balwantray (BJD) Mr.Ghadai said, 5,652 pension cases and 8,779 revision cases were pending with the Comptroller of Accounts.

Mr. Ghadai said that the shortage of staff has delayed the disposal of pension. The Staff Selection Commission was requested to recruit 55 Junior Assistants and as many as 35 members of the Institute of Public Auditors of India, Odisha Chapter, for the early disposal of cases.

Stating that the number of disposal of cases had improved, Mr. Ghadai said that, while only 5,756 cases were disposed during 2009-10, as many as 586 cases has been disposed during 2010-11.
