Bhubaneswar: Notable Flute player Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia, Odissi Vocalist Guru Gopal Panda and Odissi Dancer Ramli Ibrahim have been selected by the National Academy of Music, Dance and Drama, also known for Sangeet Natak Akademi (SNA) for the Akademi Award.

As said by Helen Acharya, Deputy Secretary, SNA, the award will be given on a separate function organised by this Academi.

The General Council Meeting organised by this Academy on 13 December 2011 has selected different participants for this award from various category like music, songs, drama and dance. 11 participants from music and dance have been selected for the lifetime achievement award including Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia for Academi Ratna. The prize comprises of Rs 3 lakh, a citation, a shawl and a brass plaque, said sources.

It may be noted that 36 participants will get Academi Award for their outstanding performance in the field of music, dance, drama and theatre including Guru Gopal Panda and Ramli Ibrahim. The prize comprises of Rs 1 lakh, a citation, a shawl and a brass plaque.
