Evernote in December 2011 had released a new browser extension called Clearly on Firefox, to provide a better reading experience on the web by removing ads, links and navigational widgets apart from any other.

The new extension enabled the users to clip articles to Evernote for later reading.

Later, Mozilla announced that it would move away from the current Extensions platform toward WebExtensions, which would be the only way to add functionality or change the behavior of your browser.
