Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government on Tuesday has announced the enhancement of salary of about 25,000 teachers and school employees with a total expenditure of about Rs 72.88 crores from the State exchequer.
School and Mass Education Minister Pratap Jena said, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik took the decision after considering the various problems of block grant teachers and non-teaching staff.
As per the decision, out of the total 1982 block grant high schools, 1587 high schools and 916 upper primay middle english schools which have shown better performance would be given salary as per the recommendation of the 6th Pay Commission.
The block grant high schools teachers who were getting Rs 4,995 as gross salary will now get Rs 8,991. Similarly class-III employees of the schools will get Rs, 4500 per month against the present saalry of Rs 3,050.
Apart from this the block grant teachers will receive 11 per cent Dearness Allowance.
Likewise, the Government has decided to provide 60 per cent of pay recommended by the sixth pay commission for teaching staff of 916 Upper Primary schools while teachers of 224 private schools at panchayat level would get 60 per cent of the block grant under the fifth pay commissioin. The new pay scales would be effective from April, 2012.
