Bhubaneswar: Odisha Pradesh Congress Chief Niranjan Patnaik met Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh at New Delhi on Wednesday.

PCC General Secretary Arya Kumar Jnanendra said that Mr.Patnaik had a detailed discussion with Singh about the law and order situation in the State, different problems in the implementation of various projects funded by the Central Government.

He apprised the Prime Minister about non utilization and mis utilzation of central funds by State Government, while thousands of crores of rupees are being released by the Centre for 17 central projects for the people of the  State with the Chief Minister always blaming the Union Government for “neglecting Odisha while allocating grants”.

Mr.Patnaik told the Prime Minister that the Naveen-led State Government is involved in various scams from MNREGA to Lord Jagannath’s landed property to Vedanta. 

Adding more Mr. Patnaik said, the Chief Minister had raised the issue of Mineral Rent Tax at the rate of 50 per cent and alleged that the UPA Government is not cooperating in imposing the tax. But the CM had never thought of it even once while he was the Minister for Steel and Mines in the Union Government.

Mr. Patnaik further alleged that while only two districts were Maoist-infested during the Congress rule in the State, now the Red rebels have spread their tentacles over 21 districts. He also informed the PM about the deteriorating law and order condition in the proposed Posco area, Jnanendra said.
