Bhubaneswar: Determined half centuries from Vineet Saxena and skipper Hrishikesh Kanitkar propelled defending champions Rajasthan to 209 for three on the opening day of their Ranji Trophy Elite division match against Orissa at the Sawai Man Singh stadium on Wednesday.
Put into bat, host Rajasthan lost former Indian opener Aakash Chopra (7) in the eighth over of the day before Saxena (74) and Kanitkar (64) combined together to add valuable 149 runs for the second wicket.

Though Odisha fought back by dismissing both Saxena and Kanitkar in quick succession, the fourth wicket partnership between Rashmi Ranjan Parida and Robin Bisht put back Rajasthan back into a strong position.

At the the draw of stumps, Robin Bisht was batting on 24 and Rashmi Ranjan Parida was batting on 25.

While Rashmi Ranjan Parida after being discarded by Odisha is doing an excellent job for Rajasthan, Odisha on the other hand after removing Parida and some other senior players has been relegated to the Plate Group.
