Bhubaneswar: The stage is set for the biggest ever assembly of Odissi dancers from across the globe at the International Odissi Festival starting here on Friday.
It may be noted that the event will start with a dance show by 555 performers on a single platform in an effort to find a place in the Guinness World Record.
The eight-day festival is being organised by the State Tourism and Culture Department in association with Odissi Research Centre (ORC) and the US-based Indian Performing Arts Promotion (IPAP).
Ramhari Das of ORC said the artistes would be performing the entire skills and techniques of classical Odissi dance for half an hour for the record, basing on Mangalacharan, Batu, Pallavi, Abhinaya and Mokshya. For this a huge podium has been erected at the Kalinga Stadium.
