Bhubaneswar: Bapi Sarkhel, the owner of the construction firm, engaged for building the controversial coastal road linking the port town with the proposed Posco steel plant site, was arrested in Chattisgarh on Friday in connection with a clash in the Posco project area on 14th December, in Jagatsinghpur district, in which one person was killed and as many as 25 persons were injured.
With his arrest, the total number of persons arrested in the clash is now six.
The others who were arrested earlier include Jayant Biswal, Lalita Bhujabala, Sanatan Mohanty, Loknath Swain and Chandrasekhar Patanaik.
Police has registered two cases against Sarkhel after allegations surfaced that he fomented trouble at the site and used goons to attack anti-Posco villagers.
The clashes erupted after hundreds of villagers did not allow workers to carry out the construction of a road in the region.
