Cuttack: A three-year old child died in a private nursing home, on Friday due to the alleged theft of his kidney. The district administration has directed the Chief District Medical Officer(CDMO) to conduct an inquiry into the incident and nab the persons involved in it.

According to reports, three year old Srijeet, the son of Jalandhar Das, hailed from Nehrupalli in eastern Cuttack. He was admitted to the nursing home on Wednesday, for a plastic surgery to separate two conjoined fingers. The doctors at the nursing home conducted the surgery on Thursday. But the child died. 

The sensational matter came to light when cut marks were detected by some locals on the lower abdomen of the child after his death.

Irate locals from the area laid seige on the nursing home on Friday. The matter was also brought to the notice of the administration and additional district magistrate DK Patnaik has assured an inquiry by the CDMO.

Meanwhile, the parents of Srijeet have lodged an FIR at the Chauliaganj police station. The police has launched search operations to nab the persons involved in the gruesome incident.

There are conflicting reports of discoveries of kidneys being intact condition, and police believe to ascertain the cause of death after obtaining the final postmortem report.
