Bhubaneswar: Odisha lost their seventh and last Elite Group A match against Rajasthan by an innings and 56 runs at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Friday. Without allowing the Odisha batting line up to settle down, the Rajasthan bowlers fetched six points from the crucial match.

The innings victory Rajasthan booked their quarterfinal seat and occupied third position of the Group A table with 16 points. Pace bowler Rituraj Singh of the host team bagged six wickets for 75 runs in the second innings and limited Odisha to 233 in their second innings. Medium pacer Sumit Mathur was the most successful amongst the Rajasthan bowlers in the first innings, taking five wickets for 30 runs.

After getting relegated to the Ranji Trophy Plate Division, Odisha faced another humiliating defeat after a prestigious fight against Rajasthan. The skipper Biplab Samantaray fought well and scored 82 (100balls, twelve 4’s, one 6) and opener Subhrajit Sahoo contributed 55 (100balls, eight 4’s). However, the middle order failed to click, which helped Rajasthan to get victory over Odisha.
