Mumbai: Amidst growing concerns over his health, Anna Hazare’s three-day fast entered its second day on Wednesday.
As in the first day, the second day of the much hyped Team Anna’s protest against a “weak” Lokpal Bill received poor response.
On Tuesday, only about 10, 000 people gathered in the MMRDA grounds throughout the day. On Wednesday barely 200 people gathered at the 30,000-capacity Maidan this morning. The ground wore a deserted look with only security personnel, journalists and a handful of Team Anna activists in attendance
This is in sharp contrast to the 30,000 to 40,000 people who had poured in during Anna Hazare’s fast at this venue in August. His two other fasts at Jantar Mantar in the past eight months had also witnessed a large turnout.
While the organisers attribute the turn around of a thin crowd because of Winter, the dismal crowd seems to be a personal embarrassment to Anna Hazare as it puts a big question mark on his crowd pulling ability.
The dismal show has already given risse to questions on whether the other much -hyped event of IAC, that is ‘Jail Bharo Andolan’ would meet a similar fate.
