Bhubaneswar: The Meteorological Department said here on Tuesday that the cyclone over Bay of Bengal will not affect Odisha, though some places in the Southern parts may experience showers under its impact around December 30.
The deep depression over South-East Bay has moved north-westwards and lay centred around 650 km east south-east of Chennai and 830 km south-east of Gopalpur. It is projected to move west north-west and intensify into a severe cyclonic storm over the next 24 hours and is likely to cross north Tamil Nadu and south Andhra Pradesh coast between Cuddalore and Nellore by December 30.
The cyclone would precipitate gloomy and cloudy condition over Odisha in the next couple of days. Rain or thundershowers may occur at most places in the State, said the weather officials.
As per sources, minimum temperature rose by 2-3 degree Celsius over coastal Odisha with Bhubaneswar, Puri, Cuttack, Paradip and Gopalpur recording 15 degree, 15.8, 14, 17.3 and 13.4 degree Celsius respectively.
