Bhubaneswar: Balasore Alloys Limited (BAL), a leading manufacturer of High Carbon Ferro Chrome in India, has an ambitious plan to increase its plant capacity, mining out put and diversify to manganese ore mining besides setting up of a captive power plant.

B N Panda, Operational Director of BAL said that, with an additional investment of Rs 400 crore, the BAL located at Balasore, will have one new furnace with smelting capacity of 18.5 MVA, adding work for which is going on in full swing.

Apart from this, two additional furnaces of 33 MVA are planned to take the installed capacity of the plant to 100 MVA. The BAL has been exporting Ferro Alloys since 1991-92 with customer base spread over 33 countries.

Adding more Mr Panda said, the company has planned to set up a Captive Power Plant(CPP) to sustain growth and make the operation independent, which will make the company free from major worry in terms of cost component in the production cycle.
