Vasudev carrying Lord Krishna across river Yamuna to exchange him with Bijuli Kanya
Bargarh: The second day of the 11-day Dhanuyatra witnessed the much awaited birth of Lord Krishna, Vaudev’s Gopapur Gamana’ and Kansa’s Nagar Parikrama.

Kansa has put the wedded couple Vasudeva and Devaki in the prison after a divine voice warned him of his death at the hands of the eighth child of Devaki.

Vasudev and Devaki were aware of the fact that Kansa would kill the child. After the birth of Lord Krishna the guards in the prison went on a deep sleep and Vasudev was freed from the chains. Devaki was unconscious. Taking advantage of this Vasudev sneaked out of the prison carrying baby Krishna to Gopapura. There he replaces Lord Krishna with Bijuli Kanya, the daughter of Yasodha and later put her in the lapse of Devaki.

Kansa, sitting on a decorated elephant, continued his Nagar Parikrama (tour of his Kingdom), along with his Mahamantri and soldiers. He is seen unleashing his frustration of being killed by the eighth child born to Devaki and Vasudeva, by imposing fines on his subjects, even for a slightest mistake.
