Cuttack: Much to the surprise of the Railway Authorities, five wagon loads of rice, wheat and cement which were missing since more than a year, reached Cuttack Railway Station on Thursday.
It is noteworthy to mention that a consignment of 42 wagons was booked in April last year by Food Corporation of India. While the rest of the wagons reached in time , the 42nd wagon was missing since then.
Railway sources said, the food grains along with cement had, by mistake, either stranded at another station or got attached to another goods train. The wagons apparently travelled several hundred kilometres, including a visit to Secunderabad, before being redirected to Cuttack.
Although Food Corporation of India (FCI) authorities had been intimated about the missing of the rice and wheat, no one had staked claim, the railway staff said.
