Bhubaneswar: The State capital is under a thick security blanket in view of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s proposed visit including some 15,000 scientists to attend the Indian Science Congress (ISC) at KIIT University campus here on Tuesday.
It is the first-ever India’s biggest congregation of scientific minds that is all set to roll out in the next 12 hours. Some 15,000 scientists, including at least 20 Noble Laureates, corporate bigwigs and leaders from across the world are scheduled to participate in the meet. Nearly one lakh students are likely to present at the five-day ISC, which will comprise technical sessions, plenary sessions, vision talks, panel discussions, public lectures, pride of India expo, children science congress and women science congress.
As per sources, Singh will arrive at Bhubaneswar on Monday evening. For this, security has been heightened in the city. The four armoured vehicles for the PM arrived here on Sunday.
Police and SPG teams here conducted the security rehearseal including Commissioner of Police B K Sharma, Bhubaneswar DCP Nitinjeet Singh and 150 officers that spanned Biju Patnaik Airport, Raj Bhavan, KIIT campus and Congress Bhavan for the PM’s entourage.
